IIT Madras B.Tech Eligibility Criteria

 

Admission to the B.Tech. program offered by IIT Madras is based on the JEE Advanced rank followed by JoSAA counselling. In addition, below are the details of the eligibility criteria that the applicants of IIT Madras need to fulfil in order to get admission to the institute: 

  • Candidates must have passed 10+2 from a recognized board with a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate in PCM (Physics, Chemistry, and Maths). 
  • The selection of the applicants is based on the JEE Advanced rank card. 
  • However, considering the 10+2 examination result, as well as the JEE Advanced, the category wise selection is done, which are listed on the All-India Rank (AIR). 

IIT Madras B.Tech Admission Guidelines

 

Admission to the B.Tech. program offered by IIT Madras is based on the JEE advanced rank. However, the seats allotted to the students are done through JoSAA counselling. Listed below are the guidelines that one must follow while applying to B.Tech. at IIT Madras:

  • Candidates need to visit the official website of the JEE Advanced, in order to apply.
  • After clicking on the apply link, one must register with their valid e-mail id and mobile number.
  • Once done, the information bulletin needs to be downloaded.
  • Click on the “proceed” button after reading the instructions given.
  • One must upload all the necessary documents – signature, photographs, etc. accordingly.

IIT Madras B.Tech Course Details

IIT Madras offers 10 specializations under the B.Tech. program. The major specialization programs include – Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering & Chemical Engineering. 

Syllabus

In total, IIT Madras has 8 semesters. The syllabus for different B.Tech. courses will be different. Each of the B.Tech. courses are categorized under the following:

IIT Madras B.Tech Summer Internship Placements

 

IIT Madras held two sessions of its internship drive on August 5 and August 12, 2023. The internship drive was conducted in a hybrid format. IIT Madras’ Day One Campus Internship Drive saw an increase of 19% in Internship Offers received for students in the 2023-24 batch. Major highlights from Day One Sessions of the Internship Drive include 

  • 19 international internship offers from seven firms
  • 17% increase in obtained internships
  • 51% increase in companies that visited IIT Madras for internships
